Preview: ‘Dance Nation’ at Hunter Theatre

HUNTER COLLEGE–Hunter Theatre Company’s fall production, “Dance Nation,” tells the story of a teen troupe competing for a spot at a national championship in Tampa Bay, Florida. The play explores moments of sexuality, friendship and identity for 13-year-old girls.

In its off-Broadway run, “Dance Nation” caused a stir with its uncensored depiction of adolescence. Reviewers described the show as “much weirder and darker than its subject matter” (Vulture) but also as “a delight to have your sense of reality completely thrown off several times” (The Wrap).
