CITY COLLEGE–Every April, people from all across the nation recognize National Denim Day, a day in which people wear denim, have rallies and find other ways to raise awareness about sexual and gender-based violence.
While people in different states may observe it on different days, New Yorkers hold Denim Day on the last Wednesday of April.
This year, many organizations attended a demonstration at the Brooklyn Bridge, including South Queens Women’s March, a local group that not only fights against sexual violence, but supports women in other ways.
Harlem View reporter Annisha Singh shares how the group unifies and empowers the individuals they serve.
