About Dateline: CUNY
Dateline: CUNY showcases the best of undergraduate journalism at the City University of New York. The site is made possible through a collaboration of student news outlets across CUNY, and the journalism program directors and faculty who make up the CUNY Journalism Council.
The aim is to distribute the work of CUNY undergraduate journalists more broadly, encourage more CUNY students to participate in a campus publication or broadcast, and make CUNY journalists more aware of each other and the stories they are following.
The collaboration will allow stories of interest across CUNY to be jointly reported and shared. It is hoped the site also will be used to share journalism resources and information about upcoming journalism-related events around CUNY.
Content selected for Dateline: CUNY is determined solely on the basis of quality and newsworthiness by journalism educator Katina Paron. In addition to her role with Newmark J School, Ms. Paron is the manager of Teach for Chicago Journalism at Medill (Northwestern University); editor of Ms. magazine’s The Future is Ms teen-written column and the JTA Teen Journalism Fellowship. She is the author of “A NewsHound’s Guide to Student Journalism.” She’s written about journalism for The New York Times, WNYC and the New York Daily News. You can find her on Twitter and on Instagram.
