BROOKLYN COLLEGE–At the Brooklyn College Sustainability Club’s “Pumpkin Smash” event earlier this month, students and community members played games, learned about composting and most importantly, smashed pumpkins.
As part of its ongoing sustainability efforts, the group created this five-hour function to make use of the surplus of pumpkins that would normally go to waste after Halloween. It was a perfect opportunity to merge environmental conservation with spooky season festivities, according to club president Sofia Mariyamis.
