Kingsborough Community College’s landmark is a metal tower that is designed so the bars jut down like a slide and branch off to meet a brick roof. The robin egg blue paint spaced apart revealing peaks of an azure sky on a crisp morning invites those on campus to want to make this place their home away from home.
What is not evident to students is that this structure is a fully functional lighthouse at night, minus a foghorn. The lighthouse is a monumental faction of the campus’ chronological layout raising the significance of its unseen report.
“The previous logo featured our lighthouse structure since it was the most identifying and prominent feature on campus,” said Peter Hermida, University Architect. “It had many abstract meanings to it.”
He spoke of the logo change by President Herzek, with its new message the college is aiming for the Number One spot in the Nation.
