De-Escalation Training Developed in Response to Increased On-Campus Conflicts

BROOKLYN COLLEGE–Brooklyn College is offering de-escalation training for all members of the college’s community.

In response to what BC President Michelle Anderson describes as a recent increase in “conflict” on campus, the school’s Safety Review Board has been facilitating training programs that are designed to teach individuals how to de-escalate conflicts as well as how to address race, gender, and other issues that may arise.

“With more people returning this semester to teach, learn, and work onsite, the College seeks to help people cope with a range of feelings they may experience as they return to campus,” said BC Media Relations Manager, Rich Pietras, in a statement to The Vanguard.
