JOHN JAY COLLEGE— The Justice Department’s release of 3.5 million Epstein-related emails contains a couple of surprises: the name of a CUNY-linked immigration attorney appears more than 1,000 times in the trove as does a check made out by Epstein to John Jay College.
Mehmet Arda Beskardes, who worked in CUNY’s central administration for over a decade, is one of the frequently named individuals in the January 30th document dump, a release mandated by the “Epstein Files Transparency Act.” He is mentioned at least 1,452 times.
The emails released show Beskardes communicating with Epstein from 2011 through at least 2018. Reporting by Bloomberg News highlights one case involving Karyna Shuliak, Epstein’s then-girlfriend and the prime beneficiary of his will, who was struggling with her U.S. visa status in 2013. Emails show Beskardes coordinating with Epstein and Shuliak about her immigration situation, including plans for a marriage to help resolve her visa status.
