Need a break from politics? Take your mind off of the election this weekend and just have fun! by Alex Aleman

Can’t Stop the Music: Parties, panels, music–CMJ’s in town! If you just want to kick back and listen to good music this weekend, check out the CMJ Music Marathon. CMJ fills more than 80 of the city’s greatest venues and nightclubs with over 120,000 fans, music industry professionals, and musicians (duh!). Buy a student badge and discover hundreds of new artists around the city. Here’s the schedule.

Halloween is fast approaching, so start celebrating early! Socrates Sculpture Park is hosting holding its annual Halloween Harvest Festival on Saturday. This free event has everything from face painting to doggies costume contests. EVen if you’re not in the Halloween spirit (or poltergeist), stop by and enjoy the food.

If you just want to have some good, clean, cuddly fun, visit the American Kennel Club’s Meet the Breeds event. This annual event is being held all weekend at the Jacob K. Javits Center. More than 200 breeds of dogs and cats will be on display for all to admire and pet.

These three events offer something for everyone. What better way to get over the election stress than by carving a pumpkin, going to a concert, or squeezing a kitten?
