The Weekender 10-26-2012

Halloween lands on Wednesday this year, but no need to scream (unless you saw a ghost)! There are a bunch of scary events happening around the city.

Syfy channel fans, or Halloween enthusiasts in general, should check out Syfy HalloweeNYC Fest. The festival features food and craft booths inspired by the Syfy channel’s hit shows. Get your fainted painted “Face Off” style, or take some scary photos with ghosts from “Paranormal Witness.” Performances by the Big Apple Circus and the cast of the Broadway hit “Rock of Ages” are also scheduled to take place during this Halloween extravaganza. Head down to the Flatiron District and get in on the fun.

Want to experience paranormal activity for yourself? Check out Ghost Doctors at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Two licensed NYC tour guides and paranormal investigators will be scanning the Met for ghosts all weekend long. Tag along and find out which of the museum’s giant collections has the most other-worldly visitors.

Of all the places in the city, the Intrepid Museum has become the home of a haunted corn maze! As part of its fall festival, the war museum has created an elaborate corn maze filled with ghosts, murderers, and even clowns. If you survive the maze, pick a pumpkin in the museum’s makeshift patch. Why pick pumpkins on a farm upstate when you can do it right here in Manhattan?

After work and school on Wednesday, there will barely be enough time to party (let alone “trick or treat”), so start your Halloween early this year and check out one of these spooky NYC events.
