A sewage pipe broke in the pump room of the APEX building. Engineers who were making rounds at the time noticed the problem in an adjacent room , and quickly shut down the pumps and made all the necessary notifications. A call was made to close down the APEX.
“I was playing basketball and a few people from Public Safety and policemen came over and told everyone that the building was going to be shut down because of contamination in the APEX pool,” said Gabriel Lorenzo, a senior at Lehman.
Public Safety assisted in getting people out and then securing the pool so nobody would enter, according to Public Safety Director Fausto Ramirez.
